Longfield House

A late Eighteenth century country house located in Longfield Stud situated on a slope overlooking the river Suir. It was occupied by Bianconi, an Italian who was instrumental in the development of commercial road transport in Ireland, in the Nineteenth Century. He planned and built Italian gardens and imported architectural features - included at least one stunning sculpted marble fire surround to the house. The first phase, now completed, set out to repair and improve the exterior and install a new Welsh slate roof and a new ashlar and rubble stone light-well around the building.
Phase 2, commencing April 2002 sets out to restore and refurbish the interior of the house as a private residence once again.
